Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School is named after an Everglades environmentalist and journalist. Throughout her career Marjory Stoneman Douglas was known as a “relentless reporter and fearless crusader”, fighting to preserve and restore the nature of South Florida as well as speaking out about issues like women’s suffrage and civil rights.
Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School is the only public high school located in Parkland, Florida. This high school is recognized for it’s outstanding academic reputation. In 2015, Marjory Stoneman Douglas was ranked #13 in Florida and #1 in the Broward School District according to Newsweek’s National High School Rankings.
